Daytime Emmy Award Predictions
These are predictions made by Bryan Curtiss (BC), Lauren Massey (LM), The BC Bulletin Writers (BCB), Nelson Branco (NB) of TV Guide Canada, Michael Logan (ML) of TV Guide, Dan Kroll of Soap Opera Central (DK), Daniel Montgomery (DM) and Matthew Cormier (MC).
OUTSTANDING DRAMA SERIES
ALL MY CHILDREN- TBCB, BC, LM, NB, DK
DAYS OF OUR LIVES- ML
BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL- MC, DM
The last time The Young and the Restless failed to be nominated for Drama Series was back in 1984, a streak second to All My Children, who scored 27 straight Drama Series nominations from 1976 to 2002. B&B submitted Storm's suicide/Katie's heart transplant for both it's Drama Series reel and Writing reel. While it will win for Writing, series is an issue, because B&B has never won it before. DAYS submitted a plane crash, where a lot of major characters were left in peril. However, AMC's reel is the classic "disaster reel", as a tornado ripped through Pine Valley. Emmy voters will gobble it up.
OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR
Thorsten Kaye (Zach, AMC)
Peter Reckell (Bo, DAYS)- ML
Anthony Geary (Luke, GH)- LM, NB, DM
Daniel Cosgrove (Bill, GL)
Christian LeBlanc (Michael, Y&R)- TBCB, MC, BC, DK
For the last five years, Geary and LeBlanc have traded off wins in this category. This year will be no exception. Geary submitted an episode where his Luke Spencer is on trial for his life, while LeBlanc submitted an It's a Wonderful Life-type episode.
OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS
Debbi Morgan (Angie, AMC)- TBCB, DM, DK
Maura West (Carly, ATWT)
Susan Flannery (Stephanie, B&B)
Susan Haskell (Marty, OLTL)- MC, NB
Jeanne Cooper (Katherine, Y&R)- LM, ML, BC
Last year, Jeanne Cooper pulled off the impossible, by winning in this category. I think she will be back for Round 2. However, don't discount Debbi Morgan or Susan Haskell just yet.
OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR
Vincent Irizarry (David, AMC)- MC
Jacob Young (JR, AMC)
Van Hansis (Luke, ATWT)- TBCB, BC
Bradford Anderson (Spinelli, GH)
Jeff Branson (Shayne, GL)- LM, ML, NB, DM, DK
Branson submitted a good reel, but Hansis's reel had more of an emotional grasp to it.
OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Melissa Claire Egan (Annie, AMC)- LM
Alicia Minshew (Kendall, AMC)
Julie Pinson (Janet, ATWT)
Tamara Braun (ex-Ava, DAYS)- DK
Bree Williamson (Jessica, OLTL)- MC, TBCB, ML, NB, DM, BC
OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTOR
Cornelius Smith Jr. (Frankie, AMC)- LM, NB, DK
Darin Brooks (ex-Max, DAYS)- MC, ML, BC
Blake Berris (ex-Nick, DAYS)
E.J. Bonilla (Rafe, GL)
Bryton James (Devon, Y&R)- TBCB, DM
OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTRESS
Meredith Hagner (Liberty, ATWT)
Rachel Melvin (ex-Chelsea, DAYS)
Kirsten Storms (Maxie, GH)- TBCB, NB, DM
Julie Marie Berman (Lulu, GH)- MC, LM, ML, DM, BC
Emily O'Brien (Jana, Y&R)
The following are predictions made by Bryan Curtiss (BC), Lauren Massey (LM), and the BC Bulletin Writers (TBCB).
