Best of Television Recognized for 9th Annual Bryan Awards

COLUMBUS- What do a recently canceled soap opera, a drama about vampires, and a spoof of a late night TV show all have in common?  These are among the series nominated for Bryan Awards this year.

            CBS’s “Guiding Light”, HBO’s “True Blood”, and NBC’s “30 Rock” are among the nomination leaders of the 9th Annual Bryan Awards.

            “Guiding Light” has the most nominations overall with 25 nominations, including for Best Daytime Soap Opera.  HBO’s “True Blood” leads all primetime series with 22 Nominations, including Outstanding New Series.  NBC’s “30 Rock” leads the Comedy race with 15 nominations.  HBO’s “Grey Gardens” leads all television movies with 17 nominations.

            CBS leads all networks with 126 Bryan Award nominations, followed by HBO with 116, NBC with 113, ABC with 91, and Fox with 57.

            There are nominations in over 100 categories ranging from Outstanding Series and Episode of the Year to Cutest Couple and Best Villain.

            Winners in the Main Categories will be announced on September 13, 2009 and winners in the Technical Categories will be announced on August 29, 2009.  Three shows will be the recipients of Governor’s Awards on September 13- “ER”, “Guiding Light”, and “The Simpsons”.
