“Black Swan” Dances With 14 Bryan Movie Award Nominations

The dark thriller “Black Swan” danced away with 14 Bryan Movie Award nominations, including Best Picture, Director (Darren Aronofsky), and Actress (Natalie Portman) on Friday.

“Black Swan” is about a ballerina who auditions for the role of the White Swan in “Swan Lake” but loses her mind as she acts more like the Black Swan.

The recent Golden Globe champ for Motion Picture-Drama, “The Social Network” has 10 Bryan Movie Award Nominations, including Best Picture, Director (David Fincher), and Actor (Jesse Eisenberg).

“‘The Social Network’ is more than about the creation of Facebook,” said Bryan Awards creator Bryan Curtiss.  “It is about many things- power, inspiration, greed, and it features characters you can root for.  It is in the drivers seat this awards season.”

The other eight Best Picture nominees are “Alice in Wonderland”, the latest Tim Burton-Johnny Depp collaboration; “127 Hours”; “The Kids Are All Right”, a film about a sperm donor coming back to the lives of a lesbian couple; “Inception”; “The King’s Speech”, the story of King George VI; “Toy Story 3”, the sequel to “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2”; “The Fighter”; and “True Grit”, the Coen Brothers remake of the Oscar-winning 1969 John Wayne film.

Winners will be announced on February 20.

'Story' Pulls Off Big Upset And Ties Three Other Films With 3 Wins

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

February 22, 2011

On Monday, winners for the 2011 Bryan Film Awards were announced. "Toy Story 3", the third installment of Disney and PIXAR's "Toy Story" series won awards for Best Picture, Best Animated Feature, and Best Original Song.

"Toy Story 3"'s three wins are the most for any movie this year. It wasn't the only film to win three awards, as "The Fighter", "True Grit", and "Black Swan" all won three prizes as well.

"It was a exceptionally good year for the ten movies up for Oscars," said Bryan Curtiss, host and creator of the Bryan and Silver Garbage Awards. "Nine of the ten Best Picture nominees are also up for Best Picture next Sunday night (co-leader "Alice in Wonderland" being the lone exception), and these were truly ten of the best movies of the past calendar year in Hollywood."

Oscar favorite "The King's Speech" took home only two prizes- Best Actor for Colin Firth, and Best Costumes. "The Social Network" took home Best Director honors for David Fincher, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Original Score.

All of the Screen Actor's Guild winners reprised their wins in the Lead and Supporting races, while 14-year old Hailee Steinfeld won the Younger Performer category for "True Grit", and the cast of "The Fighter" won for Best Ensemble Cast.

‘Airbender’ Soars Off With 16 Silver Garbage Film Nods, ‘Sex’, ‘Eclipse’ Garner Multiple Nods

“The Last Airbender” leads all films with 16 Silver Garbage Film Nods, including Worst Picture and Director (M. Night Shyamalan) at the first-ever Silver Garbage Film Awards.

The categories in this category were formerly part of the Bryan Movie Awards, but were separated to provide clarity to the Bryan Movie Awards.

“In years past, it was utterly confusing to say that ‘this movie here’ led the Best of Movies with 15 nominations, while ‘that movie here’ led the Worst of Movies with 12 nominations,” said Bryan Awards creator Bryan Curtiss.  “It’s a more clearer and understanding picture.  Both awards will be posted on the exact same web page, but they will be two separate awards shows, and I feel that singling out the worst of the big screen fits under the Silver Garbage label.”

The Silver Garbage Awards, are the name of Curtiss’s annual “Worst of Television” awards, honoring the worst programs of the small screen.

Joining “Airbender” in the Worst Picture Category are “The Back-Up Plan”, Jennifer Lopez’s romantic comedy about a woman trying to get pregnant; “Sex and the City 2”, the sequel to the first “Sex and the City” movie; “Burlesque”; “Jonah Hex”, a live action version of the DC Comics Civil War hero; “Grown-Ups”; “Tooth Fairy”; “The Last Song”, Miley Cyrus’s film, based on the Nicholas Sparks (“The Notebook”) novel; and “Yogi Bear”, a live-action remake of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon.

Winners for the Silver Garbage Film Awards will be announced on February 20.  The nominees for the regular Silver Garbage TV Awards will be announced in early July with the winners for that being announced on the eve of the telecast for the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

'Sex' Romps Inaugural Silver Garbage Film Awards, 'Airbender' Soars With 6 Awards

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
February 22, 2011

"Sex and the City 2", the remake to the movie, which was a sequel to the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning HBO Comedy Series, came out on top, no pun intended, winning Worst Picture at the First Annual Silver Garbage Film Awards.

This is not the first year that the Worst of the Big Screen has been recognized by A Man and His Awards, as most of these categories were part of the Bryan Film Awards until last year.

"For clarity purposes, it was time to separate the bad and the good completely," said Bryan Curtiss, creator of The Bryan and Silver Garbage Awards, which are operated by the A Man and His Awards umbrella.  "It was confusing to say who had the most nominations, and most wins, between a good film, such as 'Avatar', and a bad film, such as 'Norbit'."

"Sex and the City 2" won five Silver Garbage Awards, but the most wins came from "The Last Airbender", an M. Night Shyamalan directed film, which was a live-action adaptation of the Nickelodeon cartoon.

"Airbender" translated six of its 16 nominations into trophies, including Worst Supporting Actor for Jackson Rathbone, who also won for his role in "Twilight Saga: Eclipse", and Shyamalan for helming the film.

Worst Actor went to Robert Pattinson for both "Remember Me" and "Twilight Saga: Eclipse".  Worst Actress went to Super Bowl XLV National Anthem lyric fumbler Christina Aguilera for "Burlesque".  Worst Supporting Actress went to Cher for "Burlesque".

"Jonah Hex" and "Yogi Bear" each came away with one technical Silver Garbage Award each.

The 1st Annual Silver Garbage Film Awards come with the same spirit as its small screen counterpart, which slams the worst of the small screen.  The 11th Annual Silver Garbage Television Award nominations will be announced on July 13.
